Paul and Kate picked a historic mansion in Fairmount Park, Philadelphia to have their intimate Quaker wedding this past Fall. Kate handled all the decorating and brought in a great caterer who had to work without a kitchen! Laurel Hill Mansion is preserved very well.

I had never been to a Quaker wedding so I wasn’t quite sure what to expect. The guests started arriving, then Kate and Paul made their appearance. Everyone was so excited to see them. They were both just glowing. The Quaker wedding is very laid back. Before they speak the vows that they wrote, the guests are invited to speak on their behalf. There were so many wonderful sentiments and stories. It really added such strong vibe of happiness and love. The entire ceremony felt so genuine.

Since both Paul and Kate had been married before they were more interested in family portraits, but I just couldn’t be at the ceremony without capturing as much as I could. So here are some of my favorites from the event. Enjoy!

I don’t know what was more fun during this session: sweet, happy Ava, or the two dogs having a face off in the middle of the family portrait. Both make me smile.

Four month old Ava just might be the prettiest baby girl I’ve seen. I’ve heard people talk about “a smile that can light up a room”, and I always figured they were just exaggerating, but now I know. Ava has one. Her whole face lights up. Don’t believe me? Well, you’ll have to see for yourself…

Thank you M family!

I’ve known Kelly since I was 4 years old. Her mother has a number of funny and slightly embarrassing stories which she likes to tell others in my presence. We can laugh about them now. Thankfully.

Kelly was my first model in college for photography class so she is no stranger to my camera, however, this is the first time we’ve done a formal photo shoot with the entire family. I made a special trip down to Maryland where she lives just to capture everyone together. Here are some of my favorites from the session…
